304 Stainless Steel Coil
304 coil is the volume form of the grade — thin-gauge, wide, ready to slit, blank or roll-form. It is the form kitchens, appliance makers and trim fabricators buy first, and the one where finish (2B vs BA vs No.4) matters as much as the alloy.

304 Stainless Steel Coil — What to Watch
304 coil is usually supplied in the annealed or lightly cold-worked condition. For deep drawing, specify the annealed temper and a surface free of stretcher strains; for roll forming, a half-hard temper holds the section better. Slitting is a standard mill service — tell us the finished width and the edge condition.
Choose 304 when
General corrosion duty, food contact, architectural trim and indoor fittings. The 18/8 chemistry resists atmospheric and mild chemical attack, welds well, and is stocked in far more gauges and forms than any other stainless grade.
Think again if
Coastal or chloride service, and welded assemblies. Chlorides pit 304; welding sensitizes it unless the low-carbon 304L is specified. If the part sees salt air, chlorinated cleaners or a weld, move to 316L or 2205.

Before you ask
304 Stainless Steel Coil — Questions Buyers Ask
What is the standard thickness range for 304 coil?
0.3–8.0 mm, with width up to 2,000 mm. The thin end (0.3–3.0 mm) is the workhorse for roll forming and blanking; the thick end behaves more like narrow strip.
Which finish should 304 coil be ordered in?
2B for general fabrication, BA for bright visible parts, No.4 for brushed trim. Write the finish as a mill designation, not "shiny", and the slitting width if it is for roll forming.
Can 304 coil be welded?
Yes, but specify 304L or a low-carbon heat if the weld is in service. Welding plain 304 sensitizes the heat-affected zone unless the carbon is low enough.
